OBJECTIVE: To investigate the configurational conversion of monomethyl maleate catalyzed by thiourea, hydrochloric acid and sodium bisulfite. Methods: Orthogonal test and analysis of variance. Results: The effects of hydrochloric acid dosage and reaction time on the results were statistically different, while the effects of thiourea and sodium bisulfite on the results did not have statistical significance. CONCLUSION: The amount of hydrochloric acid and reaction time have a highly significant effect on the configurational conversion of monomethyl maleate, while the amount of thiourea and sodium bisulfite did not
