Objective To investigate the relationship between azoospermia factor (AZF) microdeletion and primary azoospermia and severe oligospermia in Zhuang infertile patients in western Guangxi. Methods A total of 52 cases of primary azoospermia, 76 cases of primary severe oligospermia and 40 normal fertile men in western Guangxi were analyzed by multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results There were no AZF microdeletions on Y chromosome in 40 normal fertile men. Thirteen cases of AZF microdeletions were found in 128 cases of dysbacteriosis, with a total loss rate of 10.2%. There was a significant difference in the rate of microdeletion of AZF in Y chromosome between the group of spermatogenic disorders and the normal group (P <0.01). Conclusion Y chromosome AZF microdeletion is one of the most important causes of oligozoospermia and oligozoospermia in men.
