Due to the dangers of using lead-based paints, Mattel, the world’s largest toy maker, recalls toys made in China that have alarmed the board of directors of Western companies. At the same time, the board of directors of these companies are also worried about the chain reaction in the U.S. subprime mortgage market. The two have in common two words: risk. Richard Sharman, a partner at KPMG’s risk advisory services group, said the recall was “a very useful alarm to remind people of the risks involved in investing.”
