In the biological system of fullerene derivatives have made some very meaningful results. A number of hindered phenol molecular units with antioxidant effects are covalently attached around C60 molecules known as “free radical sponges” to give better solubility in polar solvents. The scavenging effect on stable free radicals by electron spin-spin spectroscopy was studied. The results show that both samples have strong scavenging ability for stable free radicals.
