《工人日报》从1996年5月开始,到1998年1月,实施新闻扶贫行动一年零八个月。在20个月的时间里,报社先后派出26支新闻扶贫采访小分队, 共有112人次参加,足迹遍及新疆、西藏、贵州、青海、云南、四川等22个省、自治区,深入到126个市、地、州、县的贫圉地区,总行程达15万余公里。在这些一度被新闻忽略的贫困的土地上,记者们直接采访了160多家困难企业,1.1万多人次。《工人日报》历时20个月的新闻扶贫行动,为中央“八七”扶贫攻坚倾注了热情和心力,为数千万城乡贫困人民提供了关切和支持,得到了社会各界的广泛关注,受到各级党政领导和人民群众的热情赞扬。《工人日报》的做法引起了新闻同行的普遍认同,对办好报刊很有启示,本刊加以专题介绍。
The “Workers’ Daily” started from May 1996 to January 1998 and took a year-long and eight-month press campaign against poverty. In 20 months, the newspaper dispatched 26 teams of information-based poverty alleviation interviews and a total of 112 people attended the event. They traveled to 22 provinces and autonomous regions including Xinjiang, Tibet, Guizhou, Qinghai, Yunnan and Sichuan, reaching 126 cities, The prefectures and counties in the poor areas, the total travel of up to 15 million kilometers. On the poor land once neglected by the news, reporters interviewed more than 160 difficult enterprises and 11,000 tourists. The 20-month press anti-poverty operation of “Workers’ Daily” devoted so much enthusiasm and efforts to helping the poor in the urban and rural areas in the “August 7” Poverty Relief and provided concern and support to the underprivileged people in urban and rural areas in tens of millions. It has drawn wide public concern from all walks of life. At the level of party and government leaders and people praised the enthusiasm. The practice of “Workers’ Daily” has aroused widespread recognition among newspeople and its enlightenment to run well the newspapers and periodicals.
