The late 1960s and early 1970s saw the rise of academic directors in the United States. The new director is trying to reinvigorate Hollywood movies that are economically powerful but aesthetically stalled. They pour their experiences and feelings into the film to reflect the hope, expectation and sustenance of the younger generation. They make full use of various cinema style expressions and create a group of intelligent and thought-provoking works of art.
