2000年,西安咸阳机场二期扩建工程发现大量古墓葬,陕西省考古研究所和咸阳市文物考古研究所联合组成发掘队进行了考古发掘。萧绍墓就是其中比较大的一座,4—5月,咸阳市文物考古研究所对其进行了发掘。该墓由墓道、两个过洞、两个天井、甬道和墓室几部分组成,方向175度。墓葬全长21.85、深7.35米,早年被盗。墓道为平面近梯形的斜坡漫道,长10.4、宽0.80—1.20米。底距地表深0.50—4.25米。墓道壁和过洞壁原先均有壁画,系直接绘在墓道和过洞壁上,现脱落严重,未有保留。墓室
In 2000, a large number of ancient tombs were found in the second phase of Xi’an Xianyang Airport Expansion Project. Excavation teams of Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archeology and Xianyang Cultural Relics and Archeology Institute jointly conducted excavation.
