In this paper, we use the bibliometric analysis method to sort out the asarum-related decoctions in “The Essentials of the Extra-table”, summarize the total amount of asarum in 97 decoctions, The dosage of 13.8g, 27.6g and 41.4g, the dosage range of 6.9 ~ 69g, significantly higher than the “Chinese Pharmacopoeia” asarum dosage range requirements. The article analyzes that the dose of Asarum applied in Decoction of Guantai Capsule is obviously larger than that stipulated in Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The reason is that before the Tang Dynasty, physicians thought Asarum was non-toxic, and the dosage of single Chinese herb was generally larger than that of modern dosage before Tang Dynasty. The dose of Asarum is widely used, which may be related to the experience of traditional Chinese medicine used by different physicians in “The Secret of Taiwan”. In this study, we provided the basis of philology for the study of asarum dosage, and provided references for the standard setting of asarum dose in the teaching materials of “Chinese Pharmacopoeia” and “Chinese Pharmacology”.
