The absorption spectra of Tm3 + and Ho3 + ions and the lifetime of the R fluorescence line of Cr3 + ions in a YAG single crystal fiber were measured. The Dexter theory is used to discuss the energy transfer efficiency of Cr3 + ions. The results show that the energy transfer efficiency of Cr3 + → Tm3 + is larger than that of Cr3 + → Ho3 +.
