本文用纵向历史溯源和横向文化辨析的方法考察毛姆的中国游记,在欧洲文学的中国书写史中去阐释毛姆与中国的关系,他是透过历史在说话,每一种中国观点都可找到其历史来源。他生活和写作的时代是东西方国际关系异常紧密,文化间认知与交流逐渐繁荣的时代,他对中国的描绘与观点既有积极的对话,又存在悲观的误解,这与中西文化的交流史、世界局势变动中的国际关系、文人的精神诉求都有联系。他的中国游记是历史性、时代性与个性交织的产物。
This paper examines Maugham’s travelogue in China from vertical historical origin and horizontal culture, interprets the relationship between Maughou and China in the history of Chinese writing in European literature. He speaks through history, and every Chinese viewpoint Find its source of history. The era of his life and writing is an era in which the international relations between East and West are extremely close and the intercultural understanding and exchange are gradually prosperous. He has both positive dialogues and pessimistic misunderstandings about the portrayal and viewpoint of China. This is in line with the exchange of Chinese and Western cultures History, changes in the world situation in international relations, literati’s spiritual aspirations are linked. His Travels in China is a product of the historic, contemporary and individuality.
