This article is an introduction to a successful case of a digital control system retrofit of a retired automobile wheel life test equipment. Retrofitting old or retired or still-on-old equipment with sensors and transducers is a great way to leverage both old and new features while conserving the planet’s resources and increasing equipment efficiency and accuracy. This article shows an example of this. By retrofitting the decommissioned equipment with the DELTA motion controller, the cost is only 25% of the new equipment, and the effect is as good as the new equipment, is a worthwhile promotion.
