美国南方小说在作品中塑造了系列的病态、畸形的人物形象;种种引人注目的怪诞现象构成了小说的引起争论的重要特色。如何看待怪诞现象则是我们在阅读、理解南方小说时一个不能回避的问题。怪诞背后所蕴含的思想意义,它的成因以及与生活真实的关系是我们理解和欣赏南方小说的关键。本文试图通过解读、分析南方小说中的怪诞现象及系列病态、畸形的人物形象,来探究怪诞背后的现实意义。
American Southern novels in the works create a series of morbid, abnormal characters; all kinds of compelling grotesque phenomenon constitutes an important feature of the controversial novel. How to treat the weird phenomenon is an unavoidable problem that we can not avoid while reading and understanding Southern novels. The meaning behind the grotesque, its causes and the true relationship with life are the keys to our understanding and appreciation of Southern novels. This article attempts to explore the realistic significance behind the grotesque by interpreting and analyzing the weird phenomena and the series of morbid and abnormal characters in southern novels.
