Helmut Schmidt, the former German Federal Chancellor, published an article titled “The Near Future in the Far East” in the “Die Zeit” at the end of last year. The article entitled “Only Europe can join in the world economic competition.” The article argues that China’s gross national product can not only surpass Japan in the next 10 years, but also surpass the United States and the European Union. It is possible to establish the Asian-Yen trade zone in Asia and it is not realistic for the United States to dream of establishing a US-Pacific trade zone.
