The ticks and small mammals in 11 tourist spots in Beijing suburbs were detected by PCR / RFLP, and the pathogens were isolated and identified. Results Two spotted fever group Rickettsia were isolated from the hedgehog collected from the area around Beijing Aeronautical Museum and their body surface parasitism, and were named BJH-95 and BJ-95, respectively. SDS-PAGE, Western blot and PCR / RFLP were identified as Siberian Rickettsia. The results demonstrated that the rickettsia was transmitted horizontally between ticks and animal hosts and showed that most of the attractions in the surveyed tourist spots, except the area near the Aviation Museum, were essentially North Asia safe areas. Siberian rickettsia was isolated from hedgehog for the first time, both at home and abroad
