Edward Albee is one of America’s outstanding writers of the absurd play. His masterpiece “The Story of a Zoo” was completed in 1958 and has aroused great repercussions in society. The story of zoo tells the background of industrialized society. The exchange of people is like the incompatibility of human and animal communication, even the mutual injury and isolation. Albi used unique metaphorical rhetoric in the play to create a more intelligible and absurd story. This article combines the literary text with the theory of conceptual integration in cognitive linguistics and deeply analyzes the people in the story of zoo.
