The gradual rise and initial development of knowledge-based economy The formulation of knowledge-based economy was first proposed by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which in its turn has aroused great repercussions in the developed western countries. The rise of knowledge economy originated from the rapid development of world science and technology since World War II. As early as the sixties and seventies, American economists found the contribution of knowledge to economic growth when they conducted research and analysis on economic growth factors. In 1971, S. Kuznets, a Nobel laureate in economics, argued that one of the important factors of modern economic growth is the growth of the stock of knowledge. And some people predict that the next revolution in economics will be a revolution of new growth theory. This revolution will make the elements of knowledge and information an endogenous variable to the production function.
