厦门地理环境优越。旅游资源丰富,是我国东南沿海的海港风景城市。在距厦门不远的泉州和漳州是负有盛名的文化古城和侨乡。解放后,厦门的工业有了相当的发展,已有一定的工业基础和技术力量,交通、通讯等基础设施较为发达。除原有的和平码头外,东渡新港4个深水泊位已投入使用,年吞吐量为209万吨。铁路与公路直达码头前沿和港区仓库边沿,货物运输十分方便。目前厦门地区铁路年运货量达360万吨,厦门国际机场已通航,通讯设备较先进,
Xiamen geographical advantages. Rich in tourism resources, is the scenic coastal city of southeast coast of China. Not far from Xiamen in Quanzhou and Zhangzhou is a prestigious cultural city and hometown of overseas Chinese. After the liberation, Xiamen’s industry has enjoyed considerable development. It has a certain industrial foundation and technical strength. Its transportation, communications and other infrastructure are well-developed. In addition to the existing peace pier, Dongdu Newport four deep water berths have been put into use, the annual throughput of 2.09 million tons. Railways and highways have direct access to the terminal frontage and the port warehouses. Cargo transportation is very convenient. At present, the volume of railway transport in Xiamen reaches 3.6 million tons each year. Xiamen International Airport has been navigable and the communications equipment is more advanced.
