“五四”的“社会”话语论域具有丰富的内容指向。由作为旧的政治单元、政治空间表意符号的“社会”话语与对现代社会观念进行了身份体认的现代意义的“社会”话语以及哲学化、主义化的“社会”话语组成的“社会”话语论域在“五四”运动中发生了大的旨蕴转进。伴随着唯物史观的兴起,哲学化、主义化的“社会”话语试图借此来激发平民阶级的力量,将文化革命的主体从知识分子扩展到平民,试图打碎启蒙现代性的内在焦虑,将以发现并重塑“人”的虚无的文化革命导向更为实际、具体的以社会经济基础变动为中心的社会革命。这为1920年代新文学由“人的文学”到“革命文学”转型提供了话语源动力。
