Objective To explore the effect of self-management education on improving patients’ ability of daily life after fracture surgery. Methods From April 2015 to August 2016, 90 patients with postoperative fracture in our hospital were divided into control group and observation group, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was given routine orthopedic care. Observation team to implement self-management education. After intervention, the basic living activity (BADL) scores of two groups were scored by Barthel index scale, and IADL was scored by functional independence assessment (FIM). Results The BADL and IADL scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.01). Conclusion Implementation of self-management education can improve patients’ cognition and training skills, promote fracture healing, reduce complications, effectively improve daily living ability and facilitate rehabilitation.
