我省于1973年在利川2000多株水杉大树中,根据表型性状,选择优良单株14株。并用以嫁接建立种子园。由于表型的差异,是遗传因素与环境因素两方面作用的结果,因此,要得到这种株间选择的遗传增益,就要知道我们所选择的性状,是强烈地受遗传控制,抑或强烈地受环境因素影响。如受遗传控制,则获得遗传增益的希望大,反之,则成功的希望甚微。但要判明具体的优树是属于遗传控制或环境作用的影响,只有进行优树的表型测定。因此,我所从建园开始,与有关单位协作,即开展水杉无性系当代鉴定,几年来,已积累了一些资料。现将我所和石首林木良种场种子园优树无性系高生长进行鉴定,并与以往各地鉴定材料,进行综合比较,结果如下:
