当前作为地质勘探技术推广项目重点之一是金刚石钻进。由于金刚石钻头制造技术的不断完善和正确的操作规程的确定和使用。目前在坚硬地层和中硬地层无论是钻进速度还是经济技术指标都比原有的钻粒钻进和硬合金钻进方法有所改善。但在大批量金刚石钻头的平均进尺方面,根据统计77年全国金刚石钻头平均寿命约为20米左右。这个数值和国际水平还有一个不小的差距。影响金刚石钻头寿命的因素主要是两个方面:一是包括金刚石品级在内的钻头本身的质量,它主要取决于结构的设计和造型工艺水平;二是合理的钻进工艺过程,以保证钻头能发挥其最大的生产率。
