This article describes a senior undergraduate course that is guided by the notion of “acting like an economist,” designed to enhance students’ research abilities. Although most faculties offer similar courses, this course is unique in three areas: first, the course objectives are based on ability to develop rather than impart knowledge; secondly, the learning tasks are mainly composed of the students’ own research topics; and finally , The whole curriculum follows the notion of “acting like an economist” (Hansen, 2006) proposed by Hansen. The authors discuss the history and characteristics of the development of the curriculum, the process and results of the student project research, and the strengths and weaknesses of such programs.
