worth一词为多词性词,大多工具书及教科书都笼统地写着adj.(形容词)和n.(名词)两大词性。其实,在具体运用中,我们对worth是否具形容词这一词性还需加以讨论。且看《新英汉词典》中的一例: (1)This precision instrument is worth 10,000 yuan. 这台精密仪器值一万元。词典认为该句worth为形容词,且紧接着这样说:“用作表语,后接宾语”。而《牛津当代高级英汉双解辞典》又将同于这种用法的worth当作“表语形容词(pred.adj.)” 我们知道,英语中形容词在句中主要用作定语、表语、宾语补足语和状语等,句(1)中的10,000yuan作“形容词”worth的宾语不对,作“表语”worth的宾语也讲不通。其实,笔者认为,象句(1)这样结构的句中,worth并
