阿特拉斯(Atlas)计算机是目前英国正在研制性能最高的大型超高速电子數字計算机,由法蘭第公司及曼撤斯特大學合作研制。该机詳机缪斯(MUSE)予定在1961年底研制完成。阿特拉斯計算机的運算速度很高,每秒鐘能进行90万次加法操作,乘法的每次操作時間為5-7微秒。這台机器主要用來進行大量的科学計算及作數据處理。机器的结构极为灵活,成本費用很經濟。在設計上这台机器對存貯器的利用采用了完全新的方法。
Atlas Computer is currently the UK is developing the highest performance of large-scale ultra-high-speed digital electronic computer, developed by the Flanders and Manchester University. The aircraft detailed Muse (MUSE) is scheduled to be completed by the end of 1961. Atlas’s computational speed is high, enabling 900,000 additions per second, with multiplications of 5-7 microseconds per operation. This machine is mainly used for a lot of scientific computing and data processing. The structure of the machine is extremely flexible and cost-effective. This machine is designed to take full advantage of memory utilization.
