每届端午,不少剧团都会上演《白蛇传》一剧,以其中有白素贞喝雄黄酒一段故事应节。但在一百多年前的晚清剧坛,演出最为兴盛的却是《混元盒》。《混元盒》创作于康熙年间,讲述的是天师张捷诛除蝎子精、蜈蚣精、红蟒精等妖精的故事,因情节离奇,场面热闹,成为热演剧目。嘉庆年间,《混元盒》进入宫廷,经过仁宗多次修改,最终变为端午节的应节戏——《阐道除邪》。作为演出最为频繁的节戏之一,《混元盒》在宫廷中又几经修改,代表了不同时期宫廷演剧
