我省是全国淡水鱼主要产区之一。瑞昌、九江、湖口、彭泽等县盛产鱼苗,不但供给全省养鱼的需要,而且也供给邻省养鱼一部份的需要。但是在国民党反动派的腐败统治下,鱼苗生产也和其他生产一样,逐年衰落了。解放几年来,由于党和人民政府的领导和广大人民的积极努力,鱼苗生产获得了一定的发展。1949年全省产鱼苗4千5百万尾,1956年增到4亿6千9百多万尾,增加十倍以上。但是,必须指出:有些地方对鱼苗生产还缺乏足够的重视,对鱼苗生产的支持 Our province is one of the major producing areas for freshwater fish in the country.
