建凌桥是一座11孔的大型石拱桥,净跨24公尺,墩距27公尺,拱矢度6公尺。该桥于1957年10月开始施工,1958年国庆节正式通车使用。工程造价(包括基础、锥坡、梨埧、护坡、桥头路基):每延长公尺实际成本3,233元。在施工上,由于拱架支立每孔仅需10几名木工,用3~5天,所以比钢筋混凝土桥支架模型还要简单。拱圈砌筑每孔30~40名工人,一般需5~7天,相当于钢筋混凝土桥(?)钢筋、浇灌混凝土所需的时间。此外砌侧墙、铺桥面等工序亦不甚麻烦。拱桥砌筑冬季施工设备简单,可以克服季节影响。兹将几点施工经验介绍如下:
