In 1971 Philip Zimbardo, a psychology professor at Stanford University in the United States, conducted an interesting study. Stanford University students are recruited voluntarily to participate in a simulated prison environment and serve as guards and prisoners, respectively. In an experiment originally planned for two weeks, psychologists originally hoped to have a better understanding of the adaptation of normal people to the prison environment but unexpectedly discovered an unexpected result that would have a significant impact on future psychology research. It is the individual in a collective environment, will make their own often difficult to identify in the extreme environment of extreme behavior.
