开展对外语教师个人理论的研究是个全新的话题,外语教师个人理论是搞好外语教学的重要因素之一,它能直接影响外语教师的教学决策,体现外语教师的专业水平。长期以来,外语教学改革往往强调公共教学理论的重要性,强调重视学生不同的个体,却很少关注教师个人理论的重要性,忽视了教师独立的个体,因此,研究外语教师的个人理论就是重视教学方法的独特性与灵活性和尊重外语教师不同的个体,也就抓住了教学的关键。
