From 1971 to 1986, the sweet potato breeding program of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Nigeria, was to breed and test new sweet potato varieties in soils not fertilized in the country. Cultivars of up to 52 tonnes / ha were identified (Ha-hn et al., 1984). A total of 197 seedlings of high-yielding sweet potato cultivars cultivated by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture were germinated and tested for vegetative propagation and selection in the United States. Oxic Paleustalfs was used on sandy loam soil with low nitrogen levels (N 10 g / kg)
