Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) consists of 67 amino acids and is a single-chain polypeptide with a molecular weight of approximately 7.5 kD. Recent studies have shown that IGF-II is involved in tumor autocrine or paracrine growth regulation [1]. Because IGF-II is mainly synthesized and secreted by the liver, and it is abnormally expressed in the precancerous liver tissue, IGF-II may be involved in the occurrence and development of liver cancer.
