美国航运业的称雄人物魏重庆,祖籍浙江宁波奉化,1914年生。早年在上海读书,毕业于上海交通大学,并取得电机工程师学位。1942年开始经营海运业,把石油从中东运往东亚。魏重庆于第二次世界大战期间去美国,加入美国籍,并在战后的航运业中晋升为联合油轮公司副总裁。他直接负责14艘油轮及散货船的建造和营运,活跃于美国海运界。1962年,魏重庆创立了复康轮船公司,并担任该公司的总裁。魏重庆作为一个航运家,在美国有很大影响。在美国海运业还不景气的时候,他经营有道,勇于创新和改革,能想方设法赚取利润,并能以最大的努力获得追加资本来维持商船队。魏重庆在创业之初,经过对船只的改革和创新,以最低的费率完成了一宗美国历史上最大谷物越洋运输生意,获得了一大笔利润。
Wei Zhongqing, the leading American shipping industry, was born in Fenghua, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province in 1914. Early years studying in Shanghai, graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University, and obtained a degree in electrical engineering. In 1942 began operating the shipping industry, the oil shipped from the Middle East to East Asia. Wei Chung-ching went to the United States during World War II, became a U.S. citizen and was promoted to vice president of United Tanker in the post-war shipping industry. He is directly responsible for the construction and operation of 14 oil tankers and bulk carriers and is active in the U.S. maritime community. In 1962, Wei Chongqing founded Rehabilitation Corps and acted as the company’s president. Wei Chongqing as a shipping home, in the United States have a great influence. While the shipping industry in the United States was still in a downturn, he was well-run, innovative and reformed, able to make every effort to make profits and with the utmost efforts he could obtain additional capital to sustain the merchant fleet. At the beginning of its establishment, Wei Chongqing achieved a great profit by completing the reform and innovation of its ships at the lowest rate in a transatlantic transportation business of the largest cereal in the history of the United States.
