儒家仁学在晚清得到思想上的阐发和某种程度的践履。康有为、谭嗣同等戊戌思想家既重释仁学的内圣修养,又阐发仁政学说,并在重民意识、平等思想和理想人格等方面将仁学与启蒙思想会通起来。他们执着于仁的理念,但在近代中国,仁学难以开出新的外王功业。在成圣成仁的追求中,康、谭等人的社会方案更加走向道德理想主义,人生结局也染上了浓厚的悲剧色彩。
Confucian benevolence got ideological elucidation and a certain degree of fulfillment in the late Qing Dynasty. Kang Youwei and Tan Sitong, like Wu Xin, both reinterpreted the inner benevolence of benevolence and explained the theory of benevolent government. They also talked about benevolence and enlightenment thinking in terms of citizen consciousness, equality and ideal personality. They are dedicated to the idea of benevolence, but in modern China, benevolence is hard to open a new career as a foreign king. In the pursuit of sanctification, the social programs of Kang and Tan went even further to moral idealism, and the ending of their lives also caught a strong tragedy.
