职业道德规范是在长期的职业实践中形成的,并公认为评价人们行为好坏的道德标准。它既有历史的继承性,又为一定社会总的道德原则所约束。社会分工形成了不同的行业,每一行业都有着反映自己行业特征的道德规范。图书馆职业道德反映了图书馆这一行业的特点。图书馆是搜集、整理、保管和利用图书资料,为一定社会的政治、经济服务的文化机构。图书馆收藏图书的目的,是要将自己变成知识瀑布,把图书送到需要它的读者手中;而不是使自己成为难以开启的知识宝库。因此,“为读者服务”是图书馆唯一的宗旨,也是图书馆职业道德的核心,社会主义制度为职业道德建设开辟了广阔道路,我国图书馆职业道德经过继承与发展,大致有如下一些规范:
Professional ethics is formed in long-term professional practice, and is widely recognized as a moral standard to evaluate people’s behavior. It has the historical inheritance, but also for a certain social total moral principles. Social division of labor formed a different industry, each industry has its own industry characteristics reflect the ethics. Library professional ethics reflect the characteristics of the library industry. Library is to collect, organize, keep and use of books and materials, for a certain social politics, economic services, cultural institutions. The purpose of a library’s collection of books is to turn itself into a knowledge waterfall, sending the book to the reader who needs it; rather than making himself an inaugurated treasure trove of knowledge. Therefore, serving the readers is the sole purpose of the library and the core of the library’s professional ethics. The socialist system has opened up a broad road for the construction of professional ethics. Following the inheritance and development of the professional ethics of our library, there are some general norms as follows:
