年龄只是一个数字，谁说60岁就该在家中颐养天年？为了实现儿时的教师梦，他重新走进校园，获得教学资格，在61岁时终于梦想成真。他教给学生的不仅仅是知识，还有他丰富的人生经历和坚持梦想的精神。 Host： He’s just starting out as a middle school science teacher at the age of 61.
Hostess： He says it’s something that he’s always wanted to do，and now he’s getting a chance to do it.
Larry： Your favorite subject in school...
Reporter： When you watch Larry McIntosh in front of his seventh-grade science class at DeeDee Middle School，you’d probably never guess this is his first day.
I’m trying to figure out a way to put that.You’re older than your average first-year teacher.
Larry： I’m an old guy teaching for my first year.Reporter： But at 61 years old，McIntosh is a first-year teacher，and “this，” he says，“is the fulfillment of a dream after years of working in other fields.” He went back to school himself to get his Masters in Education a few years ago，and got his certification.
Larry： Principal Ranier here at DeeDee Middle School has given me the opportunity to actually，you know，stand in front of kids and teach.
（to students）Try your very best.

Reporter： And that’s exactly what he did.Mr.McIntosh and his wife have two kids of their own，a 15-year-old and a 6-year-old，and he relishes the idea that he gets to shape young minds at home and at work.
Larry： The hope they have and the interest they show and the promise that’s there，you know，there’s nothin’ else.
Reporter： Seventh-grade science touches on different areas...
Larry： We have a period of time where we go over plants and...and cell structure，and we’re gonna
do the 1）periodic table.
Reporter： There’s a lot of work in the school year ahead.
Larry： In seventh grade you really hit everything.
Reporter： But，on this first day of school，Mr.McIntosh has the energy of any other new professional and the life experience of a veteran teacher.
Larry： And one of the things about science is，it is such an exciting，it’s such a fun field，that it’s really easy for me to keep them interested.
Host： He was in the financial industry，he worked in food management，but it’s really great.So many people go through life thinking “I always wished I’d did this...”
Hostess： Yeah.
Host： ...And he made it happen.
Hostess： He said he started with this dream when he was in Junior High and there was a band teacher who just had an impact on him，and since then，he’s wanted to be a teacher.
