道咸以降的晚清官场,充斥着各种腐败,请托即为其中一端。由于专制政体的内在缺陷,加之候补官员群体膨胀、地方督抚权利上升、新式事务不断涌现等社会土壤因素的作用,导致官场请托不仅屡禁不止,而且愈演愈烈,并进一步助长贪腐之风,严重破坏社会公正,加剧社会对立,也为朋党政治的产生提供了温床,从而加速了清王朝的灭亡。本文通过《荣禄存札》,对晚清官场请托进行典型考察。
