The earliest figurines found in archeology today are the pottery figurines unearthed in the late 1937 Shang royal tombs in Anyang, Henan. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the funeral system had undergone major changes from the previous generation. The custom of using figurines to replace human beings for sacrificial burials gradually thrived and developed rapidly. There were sighs of confusion in Confucius. The figurines of this period were frequently found in unearthed tombs.
