葡萄为我国重要果树之一。但在我国北部由于冬季气溫低,每年必須埋土防寒。这不仅耗費大量劳力,而且在埋土、出土操作过程中常使部分芽眼、枝蔓受損,影响生长結果。为了育成能抗-25℃的低溫、品貭优良、适于酿造、在华北一带不需埋土防寒的葡萄新品种,并通过对杂种苗的观察和分析。了解亲本特性在杂交后代的遺传規律,为今后葡萄育种工作提出科学根据,我园从1954年起,在前华北农业科学研究所1951年开始試驗的基础上,着手利用优良的栽培品种与抗寒力强的野生种进行杂交并对杂交苗进行回交与定向培育。
