The new curriculum standard has clear and specific rules for the requirements of extracurricular reading for junior high schools, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Language teachers should combine junior and middle school students’ physical and mental characteristics, junior middle school language curriculum content and learning standards, as well as the status quo of junior middle school Chinese language teaching, multi-angle, multi-level exploration and guidance of junior high school students to carry out extracurricular reading methods. After many years of teaching practice, the author found that using “interesting” as the starting point to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Chinese reading after class is the key to lead the success of extracurricular reading. Human interest is multi-faceted, evolving and changing.
