In this paper, the effect of hot isostatic pressing (HIP) on the homogenization and morphologies of eutectic phases in K17 alloy was studied. Semi-quantitative analysis shows that the eutectic tail (Al + Ti) content is lower than the average alloy content, while Cr and Mo are the opposite. After HIP treatment, the contents of Cr and Mo decrease below the average alloy content, thus eliminating the formation of σ phase. When the HIP temperature is lower than 1165 ℃, the morphology of the eutectic does not change much. Above this temperature, the fine γ ’phase appears in the tail of the eutectic and the γ’ is tetragonal. The content of Cr and Mo is higher than that of the alloy content. The appearance of the fine γ ’phase accelerates the homogenization of the constituents and must therefore be taken into account in the selection of the HIP parameters.
