在柑桔园种植三叶草,既能控制园中杂草,增加土地肥力,又有利于猪、牛的饲养;而在套种牧草的桔园放蜂,每群蜂可产柑桔蜜、三叶草蜜各10公斤;更重要的是,柑桔通过蜜蜂授粉,能增产30％。在鄂西长江柑桔带实行“牧—果—蜂”立体种养,将增产柑桔1800多万公斤,采优质柑桔蜜1500吨,三叶草蜜1000吨,增加收入2000多万元。但这一资源目前的利用率尚不足30％。

In Western Hubei Province, the implementation of the “animal husbandry - fruit - bee” three-dimensional planting and breeding will increase production of more than 18 million kilograms of citrus, quality citrus honey mining 1,500 tons, clover honey 1,000 tons, an increase of income of more than 20 million yuan. However, the current utilization of this resource is less than 30%.
