The effects of vitamin B 12 deficiency on spinal medulla lipid and fatty acids were studied using the normal fruit bat (Roueettus aegyptiacus) and fruit bats lacking B_ (12). The fruit bats fed vitamin B 12 (12) fruit had low concentrations of vitamin B 12 in plasma and brain tissue.
