Rats continuously lead by drinking water (lead acetate 1500mg / L distilled water). Animals were sacrificed at the end of the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th week respectively, and the kidneys were taken for lipid peroxidation related indexes and determination of lead, zinc and copper contents. The results showed that lead significantly increased the formation of malondialdehyde and was not affected by the content of reduced glutathione. The activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) was first increased and then normalized by inhibition, which was in accordance with the normal condition after the zinc content in the tissue first decreased. Hint: Lead may inhibit lipid peroxidation by displacing zinc from its active site.
