普查广西86个县(市),土壤全硼含量为15.902—96.240ppm,平均52.723ppm,呈正态分布,不同母质发育的土壤硼含量有很大差异,石灰岩和第四纪红土发育的土壤,全硼含量最高,砂页岩最低。全区土壤有效硼含量为0.032—0.710ppm,平均0.199ppm,普查表现缺乏。影响土壤有效硼含量的因素有全硼含量、有机质、pH值和气侯条件。根据土壤有效硼含量的分布,用全国统一的分级指标,可把广西划分为11个利用类型区。在花生和西瓜等作物上施用硼肥,对提高产量,改善品质有良好作用;花岗岩、石灰岩和洪积物发育的土壤上种植水稻,施硼效果不显著,
