The “Meiji Restoration” ended Japan’s self-defending state of lock-in. The technical personnel of countries such as Britain and France brought advanced construction technology at that time and trained a large number of modern talents for Japan. Under their advocacy and organization, building academic organizations and design firms that followed the example of Western Europe emerged one after another. After more than half a century of development, Japan’s building technology has reached a fairly advanced level.
