Objective: To investigate the expression and correlation of Survivin and COX-2 in gastric cancer. Methods: The expressions of Survivin and COX-2 in 50 specimens of gastric cancer were detected by immunohistochemical SP method and semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Paracancerous tissues were used as normal control. Results: ① There was no expression of Survivin and COX-2 in normal gastric tissue. The expression of Survivin in gastric cancer was related to the depth of invasion, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis (P <0.01), but not to the differentiation of gastric cancer (P> 0.05) The expression of COX-2 was correlated with TNM stage and lymph node metastasis (P <0.01), but not with the degree of differentiation and depth of invasion (P> 0.05). ② The expression of Survivin and COX-2 in gastric cancer tissues was positively correlated (P <0.05). Conclusion: Survivin and COX-2 play a synergistic role in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer, which can be used as an important indicator for early diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer.
