The time that knife coins and shovel-shaped coins began to cocirculate was in the late Spring and Autumn Period, and the circulating area was where used to be controlled by Lan Yu State. There arethree perieds of the coins co-circulating in Xian Yu and Jin States, in Yan, Zhao and Zhong Shan Statesand in Yan and Zhao States. The main cause is the wwhng or capturing among the states in north Chinaarea, the development of commodity trade and the effect on each other in casting cons.
