In situ observation method is used to study the crystal growth mechanismsand morphologies of salol(phenyl salicylate,C_(13)H_(10)O_3) in melt.In situ obser-vation system contains an Olympus polarizing microscope.Through a conven-tional TV camera,the optical images can be observed on the TV screen orrecorded in a video tape recorder.
