The emphasis on irreversibility is one of the important characteristics that distinguishes evolutionary economics from neoclassical economics. However, irreversibility has long been regarded as a synonym for “historically important ”, ignoring its more complex and profound implications . In fact, the irreversibility of evolutionary economics is closely related to its individual group thinking, evolutionary selection mechanism, and the concept of co-evolution. It stresses that under what conditions a novelty occurring at an individual’s micro-level is mediated by a particular mechanism Choose and steadily become a macro strange phenomenon at the group level. When this macro-novel phenomenon is stabilized, the irreversibility of evolution can be expressed and transformed in the true sense of the structure. Irreversibility is widely reflected in the areas of innovation diffusion, technological paradigm change, institutional evolution, and changes in the mode of production, which require full attention to the initial causes and factors that lead to the eventual irreversible changes in the system.
