As a first-rate language teacher, in the years of teaching practice, I have come to appreciate the core values of the new curriculum standards that are transmitted from compulsory and optional textbooks. To put it plainly, the new curriculum standards respect and value the mental activities of individuals in reading and appreciation, and strive to unite the teaching of “what to teach” and “how to teach” in the compilation of teaching materials so as to enhance students’ literacy . The new curriculum standards, in addition to asking teachers from the point of view, but also from the “learning” point of view, actively advocating “autonomy, cooperation and inquiry learning ”. This essay attempts to use elective textbooks as the object of inquiry and reflect on the use of textbooks for several years
